MutHuntLab is a personal research resource, including an author's blog and data analysis tools designed for various specialists studying mutations in the genes of various microorganisms.
The project is being developed by Alexander Samchenko, an employee of the Laboratory of Structure and Dynamics of Biomolecular Systems of the Institute of Cell Biophysics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in Pushchino (Moscow Region). The main area of scientific activity is the study of molecular complexes such as DNA and proteins. In his research, the author uses methods of quantum chemistry, molecular dynamics, as well as molecular docking methods.
To automate routine tasks and speed up scientific calculations, his own scripts and programs in popular programming languages — Python and C# — are actively being developed.
The laboratory has published a number of articles in peer-reviewed journals, and also created several dozen application programs and auxiliary utilities for analyzing bioinformatics data.
One of the most recently developed tools is an intuitive service with a user-friendly interface, based on popular alignment algorithms. It allows for efficient detection of mutations and comparative analysis of nucleotide or protein sequences.
The development of new solutions continues: the most successful and popular tools will be gradually integrated into the composition of the MutHuntLab platform.
The author also regularly participates in scientific conferences, where he presents his work and shares his experience with colleagues.
